The good news for the week is that Volume 2 of Bingara, Our Town, Our People is on target to be published within the next 8 weeks. Perhaps sooner. Lots of new stories, many never covered before and those who have been “lost” in history. I do not do book launches, so watch out for it on the Rodney’s Relics web page - Bingara History Books. To be honest, I am surprised and humbled by the support given of my first book. Since it was published in February 2022, hundreds of copies have been sold – And it is still selling. Some of my favorite stories in the new book are – the artist who painted scenes of Bingara in the mid 1800s, the story of “Miranda”, the Lanagan Family, a world-famous miner and an 18-year-old born, at Caroda, who was nearly toured with the Kangaroos.

Apart from this we are continually working to improve the lay-out of Rodney’s Relics. The Australian and Bingara History books are looking good and well-worth a look at
Australian Books – Rodney's Relics also the murder, mystery policing books. Our next task is the set up our “Sales” items – we have lots of “specials” in mind.
Finally, the new Council building in Maitland Street is getting much closer to completion and the timing for Rodney’s Relics is great - Volume 2 of Bingara, Our Town, Our People has a chapter “The Making of Gwydir Shire” – and those who remember the merger in 2004 and read the story, will be delighted that the dreams have become a reality – thanks to those who have made the come true.
